Digital Imaging with Nike & Nandi Bushell

MotionHut was recently at hand to provide Digital Imaging services for a Nike Kids’ PLAYlab production featuring virtuoso drummer Nandi Bushell. The production utilised CODEX Media from an Arri Alexa LF and a Sony Venice. In addition, we provided a livestream feed to the producers in Paris from the production base in London, who were able to feedback to the production crew on set in real time.

The job of a digital imaging technician is to take care of all the technical aspects of digital video capture in production – managing the video pipeline as it travels from camera to card, and preparing it before it heads to the edit suite.

Digital Imaging Technicians work closely with directors and and cinematographers to ensure that their shots are perfect, as well as providing further technical support for the onset video pipeline.

The digital imaging technician is a new breed of cinematographer who specializes in all things related to the digital capture, management, and manipulation of images. They are involved in all aspects of the production process from pre-production to post-production, and have an extensive knowledge of the entire workflow. A digital imaging technician will be able to work with a variety of cameras and formats, as well as software for ingesting, logging and managing data. They will also have strong organizational skills, which are necessary for keeping track of all the data that is generated during production. Now, more than ever, they are a vital component of the production crew.
